Radio New Zealand Radio Summer Programming
Summer programming schedules for Radio New Zealand’s National Radio and Concert FM networks will begin from Christmas Day and remain in place until regular programmes resume on Monday 23rd January.
Concert FM introduces Summer Sonic each day just after the midday news, a range of special features including concerts from the NZSO's recent tour to Europe; profiles of singers Luciano Pavarotti, Renee Fleming and pianist William Kapell; and Bruce Mason's play, The End of the Golden Weather. Classical music fans will celebrate New Year’s Eve in traditional style with Settling The Score, a twelve hour countdown of classical music favourites selected by popular vote.
On National Radio Summer Report will continue its popular holiday news programming with a mix of hard news from around the world and lighter magazine style local features. Afternoon entertainment will see the return of Phil O’Brien’s Matinee Idle and Saturday Afternoons will feature the 3D Radio Show. Nights will be hosted by Chris Whitta until Bryan Crump returns on January 16th
Broadcasting schedules are back to normal on January 23rd with the return of high profile news and current affairs programmes Morning Report, Nine To Noon, Midday Report, and Checkpoint.
Former TVNZ and BBC presenter, Anita McNaught, will make a guest appearance as host on Nine to Noon when the programme returns on January 23rd. McNaught, a regular contributor to Nine to Noon from London, will be in New Zealand and will present the programme until Linda Clark returns on January 30th.
Weekday Afternoons will also have a guest presenter during its first week back on air. Well known broadcaster, Paul Brennan, will take time out from his Radio New Zealand news reading role to host Weekday Afternoons until Jim Mora returns on January 30th.
