LOUIE KNUXX - WASTED YOUTH WILL BE AVAILABLE FROM MARCH 5TH 2006.
Delinquent MC and general hiphop enthusiast Louie Knuxx has gathered an army of the best in a project set on defining unadulterated NZ hiphop. Due for release on the independent Breakin Wreckwordz label, Louie has added to the already smoldering line up of MC’s from his own camp (Cyphanetik, Tourettes, Usual Suspects, Ethical) with hot features from PNC, Quest (Immigrants), Dirt City’s Fact and Nesh and RnB singstar Maia. This special project also features production from Decay, Exile (Breakin Wreckwordz), and 22 (Unseen) amongst others.
Louie Knuxx, an admired member of the NZ hiphop underground, is originally from New Plymouth and has been making music for 8 years now. He spent time on the grind in old school crew Dirtbag District (with crewmate Ethical) and has worked his way to the top of the game – he now holds membership to the legendary Insomniacs, and is used to being numbered among the best.
An intense experience revealing the insightful Louie Knuxx, the album traces his childhood and youth, an autobiographic account of violence & drugs, rap dramas & superstars, love & family. The best part in all of this - the tracks are recorded with people who have shared these experiences with him. The outspokenness and satire we’ve come to expect from him is extended to serious issues too– a pedestal used wisely, but it is the languid teasers (with the rogue eloquence that is distinctly him) that are likely to impress the most. And because it would not be a hiphop album without the braggadocio, he’s promised to take some “hiphop” offenders to school too.
Louie’s debut will kick the year off for the Breakin Wreckwordz label, one in a series of direct to the public street releases to coincide with the three major releases planned for 2006. His style and talent have long been part of this pivotal collective’s charm and this release will be a true reflection of Louie’s art as he gears up for the long anticipated Insomniacs album later in the year.
Beloved of the scene, Breakin Wreckwordz has already given NZ hiphop some of it’s most talented sons, this instance is no different. Whether the masses wake up or not, the music must go on.
"Wasted Youth" will be available in selected stores across the nation and direct from www.breakinwreckwordz.co.nz and www.amplifier.co.nz
P.S. Yes we know its a Sunday, crazy eh!
