HAPPY
Cnr Vivian and Tory Streets
Wellington
Sat 17th Dec
12pm - 3am
To celebrate a fantastic year of music and performance HAPPY is presenting a 15 hour music and food extravaganza on Sat 17th December featuring an incredible lineup of Wellingtons musicians and performing artists.
Throughout 2005 Happy has hosted an amazing variety of gigs, shows and performances and this end of year extravaganza will feature many of the artists who have made the venue such an exciting hub of NZ music and performance.
The day kicks off at 12pm with an afternoon of jazz, acoustic music, sound installation and dance then moves into rock, pop and avant-garde bands interspersed with spoken word, video art and many other surprises. Members of the legendary theatre troupes Red Mole and Roadworks will perform, as will two of New Zealands greatest dancers Kilda Northcott and Lyne Pringle. Music ranges includes songsters Leila Adu, Sam Scott and John White, the throat singing of Jonny Marks, a banjo pluckin' Manimanima!, the incredible grooves of No San Pedro and many other established and emerging acts.
Tickets are $15 or $10 and give access to the entire event so people can come and go as they please. The day has been conceived to allow for musicians and punters to go to other gigs and still be a part of the celebrations.
Proceeds from the event will go towards keeping the Happy doors open in 2006.
