Big Wednesday Jackpots – Incorrect Number Read Out, Draw Verified As Correct
The new lottery game, Big Wednesday, has jackpotted, with $4.0 million cash and other luxury prizes on offer next week, NZ Lotteries Chief Executive Trevor Hall said tonight.
"Unfortunately, tonight's presenter misread one of the numbers and, as a result, the broadcast of the draw was stopped before the second chance draw result, and winner, were announced.
"This part of the draw did occur under appropriate scrutiny by Audit New Zealand who have verified that Tails was drawn and a ticket sold at Tairua Stationers won Big Wednesday's serial number draw. The ticket holder has won a prize of $25,000.
"The official results for Big Wednesday Draw 7, as verified by Audit New Zealand, are 23, 11, 06, 14, 45, 18, and the coin toss is Tails.
"The results can be found on NZ Lotteries web site, www.nzlotteries.co.nz; in all lottery outlets throughout New Zealand and will be published in most major newspapers tomorrow.
"I urge all Big Wednesday players to take their tickets into their nearest lottery outlet to have them checked. That way, they can be absolutely sure if their ticket is a winner or not.
"NZ Lotteries would like to apologise to all our players for this unfortunate error. We are taking steps to ensure that it does not happen again.
"NZ Lotteries would like to apologise for any confusion caused by the wrong number being read out and would like to reiterate that the numbers stated above are the official numbers," says Mr Hall.
At the next draw, on 14 December, Big Wednesday players will be in to win:
- $4.0 million;
- Porsche 911 Carrera;
- Range Rover Vogue V8;
- $50,000 worth of luxury travel every year for five years;
- $250,000 American Express Platinum card;
- Mustang luxury launch; and
- $500,000 holiday home.
"We've got a great surprise for players this week. All the same 'goodies' that were on offer last week are still there, but added to that is more cash, one million more.
Our very first Division One Big Wednesday winner will never have to look at a price tag again. They'll be able to travel the globe using their luxury travel prize. They'll also have $4.0 million in the bank and a Porsche and Range Rover in the garage, not to mention a luxury launch in the boat harbour and a holiday home to enjoy.
"Now that's an ultimate lifestyle, and we can't wait to have our first big winner," says Mr Hall.
Although the big prize was not won tonight, there were a total of 55,313 winners from the draw.
A ticket sold at Tairua Stationers, won Big Wednesday's serial number draw, open to all tickets bought for tonight's draw. The ticket holder has won a prize of $25,000.
The winning serial number is 095-02852871-13XX
"Anyone who bought their ticket from this store should check it immediately," Mr Hall says.
