Search begins for New Zealand’s biggest cricket fan
Cricket lovers nationwide urged to show their faces
Do you have your own private collection of cricket bats? Are you able to rattle off the scores of all the international tests in the past 10 years? Do you have the signatures of New Zealand cricket legends? Do you attend every cricket test? Do you know the difference between a googly and flipper?
If you’ve answered yes to any of these questions, you could be the Samsung Cricket Fan of the Year.
To coincide with the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy Series, Samsung is launching a nationwide search to find New Zealand’s most enthusiastic and devoted cricket fan.
The search for the Samsung Cricket Fan of the Year is running in the six cricket districts throughout New Zealand including Auckland, Canterbury, Central, Northern, Otago and Wellington. (Please see attached map for a breakdown of the six districts)
To be in the running, fans need to describe in 100 words why they deserve to be crowned the Samsung Cricket Fan of the Year. The search will run throughout the summer until March 2006.
Jean-Philippe Diel, Samsung New Zealand spokesperson said Samsung was committed to developing world class products and was proud to be the official technology partner of the BLACKCAPS.
Samsung provides cutting edge technology to the BLACKCAPS and New Zealand Cricket.
New Zealand Cricket CEO Martin Snedden said the search for the Samsung Cricket Fan of the Year was an excellent way to encourage the public’s interest and involvement in cricket as the summer season gets underway.
“We know there are thousands of New Zealanders who are passionate about cricket and New Zealand Cricket is working with Samsung to identify the most committed of these fans,” Mr Snedden said.
Six regional finalists will be announced in March and each will receive a Samsung Miniket (an all-in-one video camera, MP3 player, web camera, digital camera, voice recorder and data storage device), valued at $1,099 RRP, so they can record their summer action on high quality technology.
One of these finalists will be selected to be the Samsung Cricket Fan of the Year and will receive a state-of-the-art Samsung home entertainment system including a Plasma TV, camcorder, DVD recorder and home theatre, valued at $10,000 (RRP).
Send your 100 words to Samsung Cricket Fan of the Year, PO Box 24 144, Wellington or email imaginecricket@samsung.co.nz
