Top Uk VJ Act Announced For Splore 06
World number one VJ act Hexstatic has been confirmed as a headline act for Splore 06.
Hexstatic was this year voted number one VJ act by UK magazine DJMag and will play at Splore 06 thanks to the support of
British Council New Zealand.
Splore 06 – a three day multi-discipline arts and music festival – takes place from 17-19 February 2006 at Auckland’s
Tapapakanga Regional Park and melds a strong music line-up together with visual arts, performance art, workshops and
film screenings.
Splore director Amanda Wright says she is thrilled to announce Hexstatic’s involvement in the festival.
“Hexstatic is a groundbreaking act and will be perfect at Splore 06. We’re looking forward to seeing them collaborate
with other artists at the festival.”
Hexstatic is Stuart Warren Hill and Robin Brunson who have been breaking new ground in audio and visual entertainment
since 1995. They have released two AV albums, have collaborated with Coldcut and Greenpeace, and regularly produce works
for the BBC and Channel 4.
Hexstatic will also perform in Wellington and Dunedin, and will collaborate with a range of New Zealand artists during
their visit.
Hexstatic joins a stunning line-up for Splore 06 which includes New York hip hopper Talib Kweli, Scottish performers The
Cuban Brothers, UK funk/hip hop duo The Nextmen and UK DJ Spikey Tee.
New Zealand acts confirmed for Splore 06 include multi-award winning Wellington band Fat Freddy’s Drop, electronica duo
Pitch Black, the multi-talented Sola Rosa, Kora, Module, Rhian Sheehan, Ladi6, Whirimako Black, Turnaround DJs and DJs
Philippa and Nic D.
Further international and local acts are yet to be confirmed.
Splore is New Zealand’s only three-day live-in festival and as well as music, it also features performance – including
theatre, dance, comedy and performance art – visual arts, sculpture trails, film screenings and workshops.
This is the sixth Splore festival and this year marks a change of venue to Tapapakanga Regional Park, located just one
hour south-east of central Auckland, set on the Firth of Thames and nestled at the base of the Hunua Ranges.
Tickets for Splore 06 are on sale from Ticketmaster. Limited early bird weekend passes are available for $105 each.
Children under 13 years are free.
