Coke New Releases - Fresh Music from the fridge
Saturday November 26th 11am - 12pm TV2
In a desperate bid to keep up with the ever-changing pop times, we sent Phil over to the States last week to see if he could find out what the jazzle in da frazzle in da runtime sunshine big top lateef styes was. You dig?
Not only did he come back with a bottle of cheap plonk and a bolshy attitude but also the video for the new US number one – the man who even knocked Kanye off his perch. The one, the only, hard to pronounce, Chris Brown.
With the help of a “friend” in customs, we also managed to bring in Roll Deep, Mudvayne and Lindsay Lohan, while still carrying homegrown clips of Aaradhna, Evermore and Ridlah.
On top of that we’ve smuggled in a double pass to Bic Runga and five copies of the brand new Warren G album. It’s enough to make even the Sony MHC-RG270 blush (and she’s receptive to all forms of FM broadcast).
Top of the Pops
Saturday November 26th 5pm – 6pm TV2
TV Guide Best on the Box “Best Music Show”
Never one to like the taste of stale music, Top of the Pops is freshening it up this week with a couple of up-and-commers in Kiwi Hip Hop.
First up and set to go far, Chong Nee is a respected hip-hop producer (think Che Fu, Dei Hamo, and even Dave Dobbyn) who has just released his second single Scenarios to rave reviews.
The best hip hop group to come out of Hamilton, 4 Corners have been around for a while supporting artists like Nesian Mystik, Che Fu, and King Kapisi . They've finally decided to release their highly anticipated first official single and they’re coming on the show to perform it live with none other than the Disruptiv Allstar Breakers…
We’ve also got performances from The Darkness and Jesse McCartney that are so new they’ve still got their wrappers on! Plus a few others you wouldn’t have seen yet either…
The Big Day Out Franz Ferdinand competition is in its fourth week (1 more to go) so hurry up and get your entry in. who wouldn’t want to be side of stage when they play Do You Want To?
On top of that big fat cake of a prize are 10 tasty little cherries: The Albums of the week on the TVNZ website are Green Day – Bullet in the Bible, and Madonna – Confessions on the Dance Floor, and we’ve got 5 of each to give away!!!
Coke Countdown
Sunday November 27th 10am - 12pm TV2
Not many people can straddle the pop charts with quite the dominance of Madonna, even fewer whilst wearing a pink leotard. But the Queen of pop is a law unto herself, something made obvious by ‘hung up’s’ leap into this week’s top 5.
It didn’t take long for The Darkness to join the fray either, their ‘One way ticket to hell’ sees them ride into the top 40, while Bic Runga’s ‘Winning Arrow’ shoots back into the charts.
Plus we’ve the newies from Aaradhna and Evermore, along with your chance to win the best of that west-coast low growler, Snoop Dogg!
