Animation new approach for Wellington Rugby
In light of the new Rebel Sport Super 14 and Air New Zealand Cup competitions, Wellington Rugby has taken the
opportunity to refine the way in which its season passes are structured. To ring in the changes, the union has embarked
on an interactive email and web campaign to highlight the benefits of being a Wellington Rugby Season Pass holder in
2006.
Wellington new media company, Get This One came up with the campaign to promote the benefits of a season pass in a fresh
new way. The interactive email and web campaign will also be supplemented by radio in the coming weeks.
“This is the first time that we’ve really used new media to promote Wellington Rugby,” said Wellington Rugby Brands
Manager, Anna Thomson.
“New media allows us to communicate directly with those people in Wellington and the Hurricanes regions who care about
rugby, and we're looking forward to where these more interactive campaigns can potentially take us in the future.
“It's great that we can inject the same kind of fun and excitement into our marketing that we are renowned for at our
home games.”
Once a user receives the email, they can click through to a rugby animation featuring Wellington against an Invitational
XV made up of monsters and ghouls. After the animation, they can ‘Pass It On’ to their mates via email, which will enter
them into the draw to win great prizes.
