New Works at Thistle Hall on Cuba St opens Nov 30th and is an exhibition showcasing the talents of three young
Wellington based artists working in a variety of media.
The artists have aimed to keep the exhibition honest, affordable, fun and fresh. Each has combined a range of small
format and larger pieces creating an eclectic group mix.
The stylized portrait painting of Suzannah Jessep provides delectable pint-sized studies of the human character in
acrylics.
Martine Bairstow’s photographic images give life a poke in the ribs, while her mixed media panting can have a darker
tone, exploring energy and mood through her surroundings.
“Dust is my nemesis but in actual fact it’s a rareity these days to be able to see work that is produced in an old
school method that does not stem from any digital equipment. The dust almost makes photographic appreciation more real”
says Cilla Leckie of her work.
New Works at Thistle Hall opens Wednesday 30th November 6 - 8pm and is proudly sponsored by 42 Below Vodka & Nectar Juice.
It is open daily 10 - 4pm 30th November to 7th December.
The exhibition will be open all weekend of December 3-4. On the Saturday we also welcome the return of the fabulous
Thistle Hall art, craft and flee market which includes the likes of handicraft, secondhand goods. Open 11 - 3.30pm, it’s
a great way to support the local community.
Take a late Saturday stroll down Cuba St, grab a takeaway coffee, take a look at the by-pass action, browse over some
fantastic art work & check out the market.
