Peter Jackson film history up for grabs at charity auction
Signed Xbox® and Halo 2® game go under the hammer tonight
Gamers and film fans battle it out tonight (2 November) when a Peter Jackson-autographed Xbox and Halo 2 game go up for grabs at the Raukatauri Music Therapy Centre auction in Auckland.
Jackson and his wife Fran Walsh recently signed up to executive-produce the movie version of Microsoft’s hit game Halo®. The movie will be filmed in Wellington from May next year, for release in mid-2007.
Microsoft product marketing manager Tom Hunt says he is thrilled the Oscar-winning director agreed to autograph the donated Xbox and copy of Halo 2 – which the keen gaming fan signed with the comment, “Good game!”
“Whoever gets the autographed Xbox and Halo 2 game will have secured a priceless piece of movie and gaming history,” Mr Hunt says.
“We’re pleased to be able to help out such a worthy cause, and grateful to Peter Jackson for his support.”
The Raukatauri Music Therapy Trust (www.rmtc.org.nz) operates New Zealand’s first and only dedicated music therapy centre in the Auckland suburb of Newton. It opened in 2003 and caters for special needs children of school age and younger.
The leading lights of the New Zealand music industry -– including Dave Dobbyn, Chris Knox, Boh Runga, Breaks Co Op, Anika Moa and Shayne Carter – will be on hand to support the centre at the celebrity auction tonight at the Auckland Town Hall.
Other items up for bidding include a George Thorogood Gibson guitar, a Carlos Santana-autographed guitar, a Brian Wilson surfboard, Scribe’s Nom D hoodie from the video Dreaming, and a Stacey Jones-autographed football.
At the 2004 auction, a page from the Lord Of The Rings musical score, signed by Peter Jackson and composer Howard Shore, sold for $2,000.
