Cooper sisters' debut at NZ Fashion Week is a fashion family affair
It will be a family affair when Otago fashion labels Silkbody and Tamsin Cooper arrive in Auckland for their first
appearances at New Zealand Fashion Week.
Emily Cooper of Dunedin is Managing Director and designer of Silkbody, a brand that is receiving attention for its
innovative clothing made of silk, a fibre with a long and fascinating pedigree.
Her sister Tamsin Cooper of Arrowtown designs sought-after exquisite hand-beaded and embroidered silk accessories and
clothing under her eponymous Tamsin Cooper label.
The Cooper sisters say they are delighted to be able to support each other in their first official appearance at fashion
week, and both labels will be situated next to each other at the Trade Exhibition area on Viaduct Harbour from 18 - 21
October 2005.
Silkbody CEO David Cooper admits to feeling a glow of paternal pride as the father of the two sisters.
"It is great to have two highly creative daughters, who have independently developed their own labels, expressing their
unique style in a field related to one another," he says.
The Tamsin Cooper silk accessories range was established in 2004, with the launch of her clothing label in 2005.
The debut of the Tamsin Cooper Winter 05 range enjoyed sell-out success, media acclaim and international sales.
Silkbody was founded in 2002 by father and daughter team David and Emily Cooper and has since developed something of a
cult following in New Zealand and Australia.
