For the second time in as many weeks, the LAHARs are exiting Wellington and heading to the smoke that is Auckland.
On the weekend just gone by the band played at the Odeon with their friend's the Sproutts and the rock and roll luminary
who goes by the name of Chris Knox. It was cracker of a night. Enough said.
This weekend on Saturday 15th October the LAHARs are playing at Eden Bar with the glorious Demi Whores and the Guitars'
mercurial maestro - Boxcar Benny.
What can you expect to see at a LAHARs gig? This is a great question. The LAHARs are unique in that the band draws on a
pool of musicians for it's live performances. It swings from 3-piece to 8-piece in many combinations. The result is
pop-rock'n'roll cross over which flows and shifts with the spirits of whoever's there on the night. The band's never
performed two gigs yet with the exact same line up.
An Auckland rock and roll luminary at last Saturday's gig (who in this particular paragraph won't be named) said he
thought there were elements of Velvet Underground wrestling with the Grateful Dead. You may think they sound like
whatever... the idea being... don't take it too seriously... as the Stones once said "It's only rock and roll..."
The band is hitting Auckland so to promote it's debut CD - "A Little Dabb'll Do Ya!" released on Cabbage Tree Records.
Cabbage Tree is the home of other bands: The Livids, The Sentimental Plastic and Trough.
