“Spring is here and Barbara Sassy is In Season”
Ms Barbara Sassy
The Classic
Thurs 20 - Sat 22nd October, 2005
Bowing to public demand, International Showbiz Star Ms Barbara Sassy, returns to New Zealand with the world premier of her new show at the "Classic Comedy Club" for three intimate and exclusive performances. Ms Sassy will be accompanied by, Mr Mark Dennison (Wind Section) and Mr Simon Walter (Piano) for a very special spring season.
Barbara Sassy has been wowing! audiences everywhere forever. From her early years singing in gentlemen's clubs, to the spontaneous playgirl in her underground years, to the exciting international songstress she has become - Barbara Sassy is a magnum opus.
Barbara first graced these shores back in 2002 with her six piece showband "The Riot Squad" for a brief season at The Classic. In 2003 Ms Sassy brought her show to the NZ International Comedy Festival for the first time, and was invited to close the much coveted Comedy Gala at the St James. Since then from 2003 – 2005, Ms Sassy has appeared as a special guest at the Lindauer Comedy Divas as part of the ODDFELLOWS NZ International Comedy Festival including private audiences for some of NZ’s A-List. After a three year hiatus, Ms Sassy is back with her new show.
Since 2002 her rare live performances and media appearances have produced a cult status for Ms Sassy here in NZ. As a lover of kiwi music, Barbara is renowned for her interpretation of some of New Zealand's iconic songs like "Not Given Lightly", "Sway" and Shihad's "Home Again", undeniably making them her own. But it's her signature tunes like " I Am Sassy ", "City of Sales" and the haunting ballad "Success" which have established her as an all time great.
With her new show, Barbara has stripped herself back to the style of where it all began - one woman, two men and one very lucky piano. Barbara will return with more of the songs that have made her a legend of her genre...a Diva who has survived to tell the tales. Ms Sassy’s unique performance of NZ classics, “Who Loves Who the Most”, the brutally honest ballad “Jesus I Was Evil” and her own showstoppers, “This is My Life, You Can’t Have It” and “You Should Have Left Me Yesterday”, will make this an experience not to be missed.
Barbara has always been an entertainer who is willing to share herself and she is looking forward to exploring her private parts … of her life and career with her new show, once again in the presence of her New Zealand fans.
Don't miss Ms Sassy's long awaited and sought after return to New Zealand.
