Nothing Is Sacred, Nothing Is Spared!
Following on from the success of Onstage Productions Wellington’s past comedy revue shows, comes ‘The Naughty Rude Musical Revue’ an evening of politically incorrect madness and hilarity which is guaranteed to be a thoroughly enjoyable and memorable night out for all broad-minded adults.
A stellar cast of four seasoned performers has been assembled to present this mad evening of re-written musical theatre songs; from the ridiculous to the risqué; from politically incorrect satire to singing and dancing nuns, religion, sex and politics - nothing is sacred and nothing is spared!
The show is hosted by veteran theatre performer and director Kevin Baddiley who brings the ever popular Monica Middlesex (from Karma Sutra Choral and Dramatic Society fame) out of retirement for more good-natured audience banter and heckling. Karen Anslow, Lyndee-Jane Rutherford and Michael White complete the cast as they sing their way through a marathon of ‘naughty rude’ songs accompanied by musical director Stephen Walker (as Marjorie Mountjoy) on piano.
The performance requirements for a show such as this are very demanding; the range of characters played, many costume changes at the speed of light and the amount of vocal gymnastics and energy required would stretch any seasoned performer. Attention to detail is an important aspect of any Onstage production and this is especially evident in the costumes, beautifully created by wardrobe mistress of over twenty-five years experience Rae Plunkett.
Onstage Productions Wellington has been running for over a year now and has established a reputation as one of Wellington’s leading independent theatre companies. Founded by Kevin Baddiley and Michael White, with the patronage of Dame Kate Harcourt and Sir Jon and Lady Trimmer, Onstage has created, and performed to great critical success, many productions, tours and private events including; Make ‘Em Laugh!, The Dirty Rude Musical Revue, Cinderalfred and Blood Guts and Khaki.
