Ministers Hammer The Gospel Home
Church Ministers from around Auckland will gather this coming Wednesday to join together in a special “Ministers’ Build Day” organised by Habitat for Humanity Manukau.
Millard Fuller, founder of Habitat for Humanity International, a world wide Christian organisation committed to eliminating poverty housing from the face of the earth says “When we profess our faith in word and in deed, the results are spectacular. The rich and powerful are humbled; our social barriers begin to fade. Relationships with God grow closer”. Minister and Church leaders will put the words of the Gospel into action as they work with the Ofa family of South Auckland in building them a simple decent home. Reverend Richard Waugh of East City Wesleyan Church says “spending the time working along side the families and the many volunteers from the community is a fantastic way of putting our faith into action – that great saying of Francis of Assisi ‘Go therefore and preach the Gospel and when-ever necessary use words’ is truly a hallmark of the work that Habitat for Humanity Manukau does.”
Warren Jack Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity Manukau adds “Although we receive support from many sectors within the community, Churches have been a rich source of on-site volunteers and quite significant financial support too. The Ministers’ Build Day is a great way for Christian leaders to experience firsthand a practical outreach project”
