PRESS RELEASE AOTEAROA PRMOTIONS LTD

Maori Entertainer to Perform Pavarotti
Maori entertainer Ash Puriri will be arriving in New Zealand this Thursday to prepare for four New Zealand concerts next
week which pay tribute to Pavarotti and Barry White in Wellington (October 5), Palmerston North (October 6), Hamilton
(October 7) and Auckland (October 8).
Famous on Australia’s Gold Coast for his faultless Barry White impersonations, Ash also has the vocal versatility to
perform a perfect Pavarotti or croon to the sounds of Prince Tui Teka and John Rowles.
His rich, deep voice has featured on Australia’s “Star Struck” show in front of 12 million live viewers, casinos and
cabarets on the Gold Coast as well as on board P’s Pacific Sky cruises.
Ash says the timing’s good for his show to travel New Zealand, especially as Pavarotti will be in the country in
November for his farewell concert. Pavarotti (69) will retire from the stage after his final concert at North Harbour
Stadium in Auckland.
Ash will perform many of his opera favourites including Nessun Dorma and Recondita Armonia.
He says over the years he’s been inspired by a range of musicians and singers including Luther Van Dros, Nat King Cole
and Louis Armstrong as well as Aretha Franklin, Donna Summers and Billy Holiday. Closer to home, Ash says he’s always
looked up to role models on stage like John Rowles and Sir Howard Morrison.
Presented by Aotearoa Promotions Ltd, Ash’s NZ concerts will feature his Big Band sound and Vegas Girl Dancers with a
blend of his Barry White show and Ash in Concert show. Compered by Maori actor and entertainer, Pio Terei, Ash in
Concert will present a collage of contemporary smash hits songs and famous big voices of the past. He will also pay
tribute to Billy T-James, Prince Tui Teka, Ricky May, John Rowles and Sir Howard Morrison and make a special dedication
to Inia Te Wiata and Dame Kiri Te Kanawa.
