One NZ concert only for jazz great
“Morrison should be applauded as one of a handful of the most vital new jazzmen to surface in two decades.” The New York Daily Times
“…a standing ovation, after Morrison and his musicians had delivered the most vivacious concert of the entire festival.” The Times, London
JAMES MORRISON is, by anybody’s standard, a virtuoso in the true sense of the word. Besides the trumpet, this multi-instrumentalist also plays trombone, euphonium, flugelhorn, tuba, saxophones, and piano. This sensational musician is in New Zealand for one concert only with the Auckland Philharmonia and guest jazz vocalist Emma Pask on Thursday 20 October.
In Australia, James Morrison is a household jazz name; in Europe, he is almost regarded as a local on the festival and club circuit; and in the US, he has been invited to work with some of the biggest names in the business – Dizzy Gillespie, George Benson, Ray Charles, B.B. King, Wynton Marsalis, Phil Collins and Frank Sinatra, to name just a few. There have also been gigs in the world’s most famous jazz clubs – the Blue Note and Village Vanguard in New York, the New Morning in Paris, and Ronnie Scott’s in London. In addition, this diverse musician has recorded with the London Symphony and conductor Lalo Schifrin, has performed concerts at the Royal Albert Hall with the London Philharmonic, and at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden for Princess Anne, and has undertaken Royal command performances for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the Prince and Princess of Wales, and US Presidents Bush and Clinton.
See why this master musician attracts such a large and enthusiastic following and is in great demand throughout the world…
