Red Bull Ride To Reel
And The Winner Is …
This year’s winners of the Red Bull Ride to Reel are Samuel Nelson and Steve Graham from Queenstown. Their clip titled “The Making of…” showed originality and creativity along with great technique and skill both on and off the slopes. This was the first time Samuel and Steve had ever made a video clip and their position of first place reflected the comments of the voting public and judges that this clip is of international standard. These guys take home over $8,500 worth of JVC Everio Digital Camera equipment.
Coming in second was Rob Wasiliew and Charlie Lyons with their clip titled “Flammable Ink”. This Queenstown based team ski away with over $5000 worth of JVC Everio Digital Camera equipment
In 3rd place receiving $1000 cash were Scott Staples and Pablo Kraus from Auckland with “Bro-sure”, a skillfully put together clip featuring a mix of boarding and skiing.
In the junior section, Kendall Brown and Nico Gottschalk, both age 16 years old, won $1000 cash for their clip titled “Club Casual”
Over 30 teams from around the country took place in this extra-ordinary film competition! With no creative limits or boundaries teams of two people equipped with snow boards or skis, lots of fresh snow and a video camera headed off to create their two minute clips. Each team had one week to develop a script, shoot, cut, edit and submit it to Red Bull.
Clips were then loaded onto www.redbullridetoreel.co.nz where the public were able to vote for their favourite clip.
The entries were judged on quality of the riding and editing, creativity and originality.
