Get set for the Naenae Tri
Entries are now open for the 2005 Naenae Triathlon.
Now in its 14th year the Naenae Triathlon is one of Hutt City's longest standing multisport events and will take place on Sunday 9 October 2005 at Naenae Pool, Everest Avenue, Naenae, Lower Hutt
The 4km run, 18km cycle and 300m swim is ideal for beginners wanting to give multisport a go, but also provides a challenge as a season starter for the more serious athlete.
"This event is perfect for people wanting to try their hand at triathlon and attracts people of all shapes, sizes and abilities. The main emphasis is on getting physically active and having fun" says Duncan Chisholm, Hutt City Council's Recreation & Events Manager.
The friendly, safe event is open to anyone aged 12 years and up and offers individual and team entry options, including an option specifically for school students.
A special addition is the Matt Dryden Memorial Trophy, to be awarded to the 1st place getter in the under 15 category. Matt Dryden was a gifted young athlete who was tragically killed whilst out cycling last year.
A great variety of spot prizes are up for grabs including an Avanti Escape mountain bike valued at $699 from Avanti Plus, Lower Hutt and a special Rotorua breakaway of two nights for two people at the Lake Plaza Hotel courtesy of Mainstay Hotels.
Entry forms are available from Hutt City Council facilities, Avanti Plus 40 Bloomfield Terrace, Lower Hutt or by phoning Leisure Active on 577 8099.
The event is being coordinated by the Leisure Active Business Unit of Hutt City Council with assistance from the Hutt Multisport Club.
