Ad Industry Charity Art Auction a Winner for Kidsline
Art pieces created by New Zealand’s top advertising creative talent have raised more than $25,000 for Kidsline at an event staged in Auckland last Wednesday.
The event, organised by the Communication Agencies Association (CAANZ), auctioned off more than 70 works of art painted or sculptured by some of the best creative minds from the country’s advertising agencies.
“Kidsline really appreciates and thanks the efforts of the artists and all those who came and supported the evening to help raise such an amazing amount of money. We don’t get any government funding and this donation of $25,000 will go towards training and 0800 costs,” said Maryclaire Buddle-Harris (Funding & Development Manager, Kidsline).
The highest price paid for a work was $3,115 for a large oil painting by Greg Page from Flying Fish. Next best price fetched $2,100 painted by Paul McGreevy and titled ‘King of Patu’ followed closely by Tim Mauger’s piece ‘Up for Elimination’ which sold for $2,000.
“CAANZ was pleased to be able to support an organisation like Kidsline and give our members the opportunity to exhibit their creative talents. We appreciate all the support from the industry and sponsors - especially TVNZ for their backing which allowed us to donate every cent raised to Kidsline,” said Mark Champion (CAANZ, CEO).
Hosted by TVNZ’s Dominic Bowden and under the hammer of Brett Trigger of Barfoot & Thompson, the auction attracted more than 300 people.
TVNZ, Colenso BBDO, The Conference Company, Multi Media, El Framo, AdMedia, InterACTION, Barfoot & Thompson, Y and xtraMSN supported the event.
