A MIXED voice choir from England set out for a 3 week concert tour of Singapore and New Zealand on November 2nd with an
introduction from one of the Worlds top jazz stars.
The Silver Ring Choir of Bath are the Choir Jamie Cullum’s mum sings in.
Says Jamie:
“ I am proud to present the Silver Ring Choir of Bath. I have become interested in choral music gradually through my
life due to the fact that my mum has always sung in choirs. I therefore came to watch the Silver Ring Choir and was
hugely impressed with the varied and fearless repertoire that encompasses both the traditional right through to jazz (my
spiritual home.) I hope you enjoy their music as much as I do.”
The Silver Ring Choir will perform at 7 concerts in Auckland, Rotorua, Whakatane, Wellington and Christchurch (see
attached details) during their concert tour, commencing with a date at St Andrews’s Cathedral Singapore on Saturday
November 5th.
The Silver Ring are no strangers to success, they are one of the top UK concert choirs who once won top honours at
Llangollen and have since sang all around the world. This, however will be the furthest the choir have travelled from
their home city of Bath in the heart of the West country of England.
Grenville Jones is the choir conductor, he said:
“We have become known as the choir Jamie’s mum sings in! In December 2003 we did a huge sell-out Christmas concert with
Jamie, a sell-out audience of two thousand people in Bath’s leading concert hall.
“His mother Yvonne and father John will be in the tour party. We’re looking forward to the singing experience and
meeting many new friends.”
Jamie’s new CD ‘Catching Tales’ will be out soon and he is hoping to visit New Zealand next year as part of a world
tour.
