Sex & the City Comes to SKYCITY for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Aucklanders will get a chance to step behind the scenes of hit television show Sex & the City when Breast Cancer Awareness Month kicks off on October 1 with a gala ball at SKYCITY featuring one of the
show’s former writers, Liz Tuccillo from New York.
Liz recently co-authored a humorous guide to men and dating* as a spin-off from the popular television show and will be
participating in a live on-stage interview where she will demystify dating and tackle the big issues facing New Zealand
women such as the alleged ‘man drought’. Liz’s perspectives on men and dating have featured in worldwide media,
including a guest appearance with international television star Oprah Winfrey.
Liz will be interviewed by the hosts for the evening - New Zealand Idol judge Frankie Stevens and television personality
Jayne Kiely - as they attempt to lift the lid on relationships and discover new insights, tips and perspectives on the
dating game. She will also give the audience an exclusive ‘behind the scenes’ glimpse of life on the Sex & the City set.
The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation has partnered with Network PR to create the event, which aims to raise
much-needed funds for the charity. Foundation Executive Director Helen Mawn says, “This promises to be a fun night of
New York-style glamour and, as one of our key annual fundraising events, we hope Aucklanders will again show their
generous support for our cause”.
Network PR General Manager Jane Dodd says, “We’re pleased to be assisting one of New Zealand’s leading charities and
delighted that recent publicity about a shortage of men in New Zealand – dubbed the ‘man drought’ – has made the theme
of the event even more relevant. Women will be looking for advice on playing the dating game, while men may need
reminding not to get too complacent!”
This spectacular black tie event will commence with Moet champagne and Cosmopolitan cocktails – the tipple of choice for
Carrie and her Sex & the City friends - followed by a delicious three-course meal and wine, teamed with great music and entertainment. The
charity auction will include an ‘Ultimate New York Glamour Package’, incorporating a return trip for two to New York, a
day of pampering, and lunch with Liz.
Auckland’s iconic Sky Tower will also have a stylish makeover for the evening adding a splash of pink to the city
skyline to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2005.
Tickets are $180 per head and are available at www.nzbcf.co.nz
