COCO SOLID: ‘ABC’ Single Release
ABC – Single Release Date – 2 Sept 2005
UK, Germany, LA, San Fran Tour – 13 Sept – 4 Oct 2005
COCO SOLID is releasing their first single ABC on the 2 Sept at GRAND CIRCLE bar on the eve of their first European/ US tour.
Infamous in the Auckland & Wellington indie scene over the past 2 years, COCO SOLID sound is a bossy 80’s electro rap, mixing a criminal attitude with their trademark wit.
ABC is an alphabetical and infectious rap that combines sex with spelling education. Chosen for its chant worthy chorus and hypnotic backing track, live crowds have loved this song for some time.
Having supported the 5,6,7,8’s, King Brothers and the Mint Chicks their cult following comes after the duo (Coco and Erik Ultimate) have hustled themselves around town.
The flexible couple are sound-clash fanatics, Coco saying that musically they ‘try anything once’. No subject-matter is too cryptic, no rap too dirty and no outfit is too much.
Coco & Erik’s take on snobs and the industry – their quick but brutal lyrics appeal to those who have been bored by hip hop – music in general – making their gate-crashing, electro sound even cooler and harder to explain.
COCO SOLID’s live shows are voyeuristic legend and a tribute to 80’s night-clubbing and future lo-fi rap. First-timers wonder if they are watching some kind of fashion-scene prank…. everyone else knows these brats effortlessly out-rap, out-charm and out-party any crowd.
COCO SOLID are hyped to hit the UK, Germany, LA and San Francisco this September, with their Malaysian side-kick DJ Han Baby.
ABC features on their 2nd album DENIM & LEATHER available at Real Groovy nationwide and www.cheeseontoast.co.nz

BIO
Their latest album Denim & Leather was produced with Auckland rock’n’roller ALC5, taking their stripped beats and recruiting the electro-vision of Emma Jean (DJ Halogen Girl, Japan) who produced and guested on tracks Marz Attax and 2Face. Along with the production skills of Michael Logie (Mint Chicks) and local tearaway Ro-Thug this album is set to be a cult find.
Coco first released an underground mix cassette tape Rap n Roll in 2003 recruiting MC’s and friends, among them electro DJ come deep-voiced cameo ERIK ULTIMATE. The two have been inseparable ever since.
The single Fake Kids (from Rap’n’Roll) was a hit in the NZ alternative charts (despite the album being recorded and produced off cassette).
