Auckland Art Fair - A First!
If you don’t know what we’re talking about then strap on your heels, dust off your fur and trot along to the Auckland
Art Gallery next Wednesday for the launch of the Auckland Art Fair.
The Auckland Art Fair is only a month away – a prestigious three day event produced by The Contemporary Fine Arts
Dealers Association (CFADA). The first ever-New Zealand art fair to exhibit art represented by dealer galleries. These
established dealer galleries have invested time, love and energy into presenting artists whose work is distinguished by
excellence, quality and authenticity.
The launch runs from 6pm – 8.30pm on the 3rd of August and includes speeches from Auckland Art Gallery Director Chris
Saines, co-founder of Rialto cinema’s David Ross and His Worship the Mayor Dick Hubbard; alongside a multimedia
presentation of outstanding contemporary art.
The Auckland Art Fair runs from the 1st to the 3rd of September at the Britomart Events Pavilion in the Historic
Britomart Precinct. An impressive range of over 200 pieces of contemporary New Zealand and Australian art will be
exhibited – a quality selection, which will cater to a wide array of ascetic. There is no dispute that art has a
personal relationship with its owner – what is beautifulto one can be horrendous to another.
The Auckland Art Fair encourages you to fly with your artistic impulse, making choices to suit your own predilections
with a safety net of guarantee and expert approval. “Private, commercial galleries promote and support contemporary art
and living artists” says CFADA President Deborah White.
“We promote and maintain the highest standards of professionalism and provide trust and confidence to both the artists
we represent and the art buying public.”
The Auckland Art Fair promotes New Zealand art and introduces New Zealand, Pacific Island and Maori art to the rest of
the world as a creative force. “New Zealand’s reputation for visual arts has been growing in stature on an international
level and New Zealand artists have been well represented and heartily received in major art fairs throughout the world,
says White. White anticipates the Fair will create national and international, commercial and critical attention.
Tickets to the Fair are $15 or $20 inclusive of the Auckland Museum seminar series. http://www.aucklandmuseum.co.nz.
