Kiwi’s rewarded for ingenuity
This is art that anyone can make. Entries are now open for the Fieldays® No.8 Wire National Art Award, and with $5,000
in cash prizes, organisers are encouraging Kiwi’s to get creative.
The competition is run in conjunction with Te Awamutu Museum and celebrates Kiwi ingenuity - that unique Kiwi ability to
make anything, including art, out of good old No.8 wire.
Te Awamutu Museum Acting Director Debra Kane is expecting to see designs submitted in many shapes, sizes and material
combinations, but made predominantly of the iconic No8 Wire.
Ms Kane says “Anyone can give it a go and bend some wire- and creativity is priceless, which is why the competition is
free to enter.”
All semi-finalists works will be on exhibition at the Te Awamutu Museum for ten weeks from November 9th.
First prize is $3000, second $1000, and third $500. There is also the Peoples Choice Award of $500, which all visitors
to the exhibition are encouraged to vote for.
