65 Young Wizards Performing at TV2 KidsFest Finale
The Christchurch Wizard School of Public Performance kids will be live on stage in Cathedral Square for their all-singing, all-dancing performance to wrap up TV2 KidsFest 2005 tomorrow.
The Kids Aren’t Square concert runs from 12 noon to 1pm when the patron of the school – The Wizard of Christchurch himself – will close the festival and probably cast a favourable spell on everyone ‘till next year!
As well, more than 1500 pieces of fabric with painted handprints on them from around Christchurch and throughout the world will be joined together in friendship at Cathedral Square tomorrow.
The handprints are the result of a project called ‘Joining Hands Around the World’, an International Christchurch Youth (ICY) venture, supported by Christchurch City Council’s International Relations Unit.
Sarah McNeill, a Villa Maria student and ICY member, says that by getting so many handprints from throughout the world, ICY is achieving its objectives.
“What we wanted to do was to bring world youth together, you can see we have done that,” she says.
Handprints have arrived from Christchurch schools and from as far away as Seattle, Songpa-Gu, Kurashiki, Lanzhou and Adelaide.
