Kiwi shorts début at International Film Festival

Acclaimed Kiwi short films début at Telecom 37 Auckland International Film Festival 2005
Four New Zealand short films selected to screen at prestigious overseas film festivals will make their New Zealand première at the Telecom 2005 New Zealand International Film Festivals.
Screening as part of the Homegrown: Works on Film, a collaboration between the Moving Image Centre and the New Zealand International Film Festivals, each of the four films has received funding through the Short Film Fund of the New Zealand Film Commission.
Nothing Special, directed by Helena Brooks and co-written with Jaquie Brown (Campbell Live) was part of the Official Selection at the Cannes Film Festival 2005 and has just been accepted into this year’s Melbourne International Film Festival
Tama Tu, from Maori-NZ filmmaker Taika Waititi (aka Cohen), screened at the Sundance Film Festival in January, Berlin International Film Festival in February and will screen later this year at the Montreal and Hawaii International Film Festivals
The Little Things, directed by Reina Webster, screened at this year’s Berlin and International Film Festival and Oberhausen International Short Film Festival
No Ordinary Sun, from Jonathan Brough, screened at the Edinburgh Film Festival and Film Fest New Haven in 2004
Homegrown: Works on Film is one of three short film programmes - the other two being Works on Video and Documentaries. The MIC Short Film Programmes - Homegrown offer a dynamic platform for emerging and established filmmakers to present their work at the highest level of film festival exhibition in this country.
