TV ONE TO SPONSOR WESTFIELD STYLE PASIFIKA SHOW AND SUPREME FASHION AWARD
TV One has announced a major sponsorship of the Westfield Style Pasifika 2005 spectacular and is also sponsoring the
Supreme Winner of the Fashion Award
“Westfield Style Pasifika showcases major New Zealand talent, both in fashion and entertainment and celebrates our
unique place in the world which makes it an excellent partnership for us,” said TVNZ’s General Manager of Marketing, Sue
Brewster.
TV One will also sponsor the Supreme Award in association with Fashion Industry New Zealand (FINZ) with a $15,000 prize
package including $3000 cash, plus services and mentoring with some of New Zealand’s best fashion talent, $1000 worth of
fabric and a membership to FINZ.

There is also a trip for two to Tahiti sponsored by the Tahitian Tourism Board.
The runnerup receives $2000 and a trip for two to Tahiti and the 10 category winners receive $1000 each.
Major New Zealand designers Trelise Cooper, Chris Cherry and Doris de Pont, to name a few, have combined through FINZ,
to create a Supreme Award prize that recognizes Westfield Style Pasifika New Zealand Fashion Award as the country’s
major fashion award and acknowledges the achievement of the winner.
“The business of fashion is highly competitive and challenging, even for the most experienced designers,” says FINZ
executive officer, Mapihi Opai. “This FINZ package will help the Supreme Award winner every step of the way to ensure
ultimate success across the board. No other fledgling designer has ever received the sheer scope of benefits outlined in
the package.”
The Supreme Award winner will be given the chance to meet and discuss with founders of leading New Zealand clothing
brands and successful fashion ‘marketers’. Their creativity will be supported by a solid business foundation with
mentoring regarding the business of fashion. The insight gained by this point will enable the supreme award winner to
‘develop’ and brand their range before preparing it for sampling.
JUDGES
Oscar winning ‘Lord of the Rings’ costume designer Ngila Dickson is a new judge for the Westfield Style Pasifika Fashion
Award as is Chris Cherry of Workshop.
They will be joining previous judges Liz Mitchell; Frances Hooper and Denise L’Estrange – Corbet from World and Marilyn
Kohlase from Creative New Zealand, to take on the challenging task of selecting finalists and a winner.

Categories in the Westfield Style Pasifika Fashion Award are Three Piece Collection; Urban Street Wear; Men’s Wear;
Evening Wear; Bridal Wear; Parent and Child; Traditionally Inspired; Asia Pasifika, Pasifika Hero and Painted Body Art.
TWO KEY ENTRY DATES
Entry forms for the fashion award are available through fashion design schools, the Westfield Style Pasifika website,
www.stylepasifika.co.nz or by calling 09 376 2103.
There are two important dates for the entries.
- Confirmation of the intention to enter is due by 15 July 2005
- All garments are due by 6 August 2005.
- Details are clearly outlined on the entry forms.
