Maori Television Presents Live Coverage of NZ Maori vs Fiji
Maori Television – the home of Maori sport – is supporting the upcoming Maori rugby season with exciting coverage of the
NZ Maori vs Fiji and NZ Maori vs British and Irish Lions games on the channel.
On Friday June 3 from 3.00 PM to 5.00 PM Maori Television presents the first live coverage of the NZ MAORI vs FIJI game
in New Zealand.
The NZ Maori 2005 campaign squad has been named to represent New Zealand at the match, being held in the Fijian capital
of Suva. Captained by Jono Gibbes (Waikato), the team includes Daniel Braid (Auckland), Neil Brew (Otago), Tamati
Ellison (Wellington), Greg Feek (Canterbury), Corey Flynn (Canterbury), Riki Flutey (Wellington), Rico Gear (Nelson
Bays), Carl Hayman (Otago), David Hill (Waikato), Sean Hohneck (Waikato), Marty Holah (Waikato), Scott Linklater
(Waikato), Deacon Manu (Waikato), Angus MacDonald (Auckland), Leon MacDonald (Canterbury), Luke McAlister (North
Harbour), Craig McGrath (North Harbour), Wayne Ormond (Bay of Plenty), Shannon Paku (Wellington), Caleb Ralph
(Canterbury), Carlos Spencer (Auckland), Rua Tipoki (North Harbour), Paul Tito (Taranaki), Piri Weepu (Wellington) and
Thomas Waldrom (Wellington).
Maori Television’s coverage will be presented in te reo Maori by Maori Television presenter Julian Wilcox and former NZ
Maori and All Black representative Dallas Seymour. This follows on from the channel’s successful live coverage of the
Churchill Cup last year that marked New Zealand’s first live coverage of an international rugby match in the Maori
language.
The game will be previewed via Maori Television’s daily news programme Te Kaea and weekly sports programme Code in the
week leading up to the live coverage. The match will be replayed on Maori Television on Sunday June 5 from 3.00 PM to
5.00 PM.
Then, Maori Television broadcasts highlights of the NZ MAORI VS BRITISH AND IRISH LIONS match being held on Saturday
June 11 in Hamilton. The one-hour highlights special will broadcast on Maori Television in te reo Maori on Sunday June
12 from 4.00 PM to 5.00 PM.
The NZ Maori squad will square off against the British and Irish Lions as part of the United Kingdom team’s tour of New
Zealand, being held from June 4 to July 9.
Presented again by Julian Wilcox and Dallas Seymour, the highlights special will include additional analysis of the
game’s statistics and results.
Maori Television invites you to join the channel in supporting Maoridom’s best rugby players with the broadcast of NZ
MAORI VS FIJI (live on Friday June 3 at 3.00 PM and repeated on Sunday June 5 at 3.00 PM) and the NZ MAORI VS BRITISH
AND IRISH LIONS highlights special (screening Sunday June 12 at 4.00 PM).
