LOOP Recordings update - 12/05/05
A sublime album of contemporary pop. Out next week.
SKALLANDER: THE CAMELS
LOOP Recordings and Involve are pleased to announce the release of "The Camels" by Skallander. This aetheric collaboration between Matthew Mitchell (ex-Wellington jazz scene, lately Hungarian media mogul) and Bevan Smith (of Aspen, Signer, Marineville fame) is certain to turn heads - You have not heard anything like it before.
In stores on May 17
"Wellington duo Skallander deliver up a drifting dream of a record with The Camels. Sparse yet heavy bass lines, distant guitar drones, suspended strums, meticulous Mac-glitches and murmured vocals - it's spacious, sad, richly detailed and disconcertingly lovely. Repeated listening reveals mysterious things lurking beneath the shiny surface of a sound that's as deep and dark as a midnight swim in the Pacific. The best record to date from the LOOP label." Grant Smithies (Sunday Star Times)
The Green Room 004: HOPE hits number 6!
HOPE, the final and fourth instalment in The Green Room series hit stores last Friday, and has already leapt up to exciting feedback and number six on the official New Zealand compilation chart. With awesome tracks from NZ favourites like Kora, TrinityRoots, Fat Freddy's Drop, Rhombus and Recloose, it's not hard to see why.

A call for LOOP Select 007
This is an appeal for all musicians, film-makers and 2D artists to submit work for the upcoming LOOP Select 007 scheduled for release in early July. No matter what your style or medium, no matter what software or equipment you use, if it's fresh, risky and cutting edge NZ outta-space next level s**t - we will consider it for sure.
With each successive Select release, LOOP has managed to push the envelope. Our latest effort, LOOP Select 006: KONO (which was released in December) has sold gold-status, and the growing popularity of the Select series, is providing an opportunity to all local visual artists to be published and promoted.
