DVD UNLIMITED BOOSTS ONLINE LIBRARY WITH NEW GAMES RENTAL SERVICE
Online DVD rental service, DVD Unlimited (www.dvdunlimited.co.nz), announced today that it has entered the games rental
market with Xbox, Playstation 2 and PC games now available. DVD Unlimited is the first online subscription rental
business in the New Zealand market to offer games.
According to John Fellet, CEO SKY Television, DVD Unlimited has taken the lead in providing its customers with an
extensive choice of entertainment rental services.
“In addition to the vast array of DVD’s already available, customers can now choose to have games delivered to their
door. Games are an extraordinarily popular form of entertainment, and contrary to popular belief, not just the preserve
of teenage boys, but men and women of all ages,” he says.
Games will be available as part of existing subscriptions, with no additional fees charged.
“Instead of paying around $100 for one full-price game, DVD Unlimited customers can now simply pay a single monthly
subscription fee for access to more than 100 well-known and popular games, such as Tony Hawke Underground 2, WRC and
Return to Castle Wolfenstein. And, as with the DVD rental side of the business, future purchasing patterns will follow
customer demand,” continues Mr Fellet.
As conventional video rental stores derive a significant portion of their revenue from games rental, DVD Unlimited
anticipates that games will make up to 20% of its rental mix within 12 months.
