Boost Mobile presents the NZ Schools Tour 2005
Boost Mobile is proud to present the 2005 NZ Schools Tour. The tour features energetic pop rock band My Life Story, an Auckland-based band who have recently returned from touring Brisbane..
Now in its fourth year, the NZ Schools tour debuted in 2002, taking Steriogram to the road. They were followed by Nu-rock band, Wash in 2003 and pop-punk band Goodnight Nurse in 2004.
“The tour is a travelling incubator,” says tour manager Matt Ealand. “Its objective is to give young New Zealanders the opportunity to experience New Zealand music at its highest level, while at the same time helping the touring band with its professional development.”
The NZ Schools Tour operates by running lunchtime concerts and workshops Monday to Friday at a different school each day. The tour is an endurance test for the band running for 17 weeks visiting 80 schools with an estimated reach of over 40,000 students. This year’s band, My Life Story, formed in 2001 when the four friends decided to enter the ‘Smokefree Rockquest’ and other band competitions. Four years later, they are working on the recording of a brand new single – ‘Falling Out’ - after touring New Zealand and Brisbane.
Telecom Mobile Consumer Marketing Manager, Raelene Castle says Boost Mobile is fully committed to supporting NZ music and fostering new and emerging talent. “We’re really excited about supporting My Life Story and encouraging young students to actively pursue their dreams and aspirations.”
“There are very few environments where up and coming bands can get this much exposure with young and enthusiast audiences. The tour provides a platform of experience for the band,” says Castle.
The NZ Schools Tour kicks off on in Invercargill on 3rd May 2005.
