Daytime Concerts And The Festival Of Colour
Jazz, swing, blues and folk are just some of the musical treats that make up the daytime concert programme at the
Southern Lakes Festival of Colour.
Deborah Wai Kapohe is one of New Zealand’s finest sopranos with a distinguished international career in both opera and
as a contemporary singer-songwriter. Her lunchtime concert on 27 April at midday will feature some of her favourite
classical pieces and some of her own original songs.
Late afternoon on Thursday and Friday features performances by Martin Curtis & Graham Wardrop and De Ja Blu. Curtis & Wardrop offer a taste of Otago originals with a side dish of Beatles classics on Thursday while De Ja Blu feature funky
Latin jazz and blues on Friday, both the ideal accompaniment to an after work drink in the spectacular surrounds of the
Infinity Pacific Crystal Palace.
Sunday brunch at 11.30am to the strains of Dunedin’s jazz ‘diva’ Suzanne Ellison is the perfect way to ease into the
final day of the Festival. Suzanne’s sultry full vocal sound is complemented by Doug Wright’s expressive keyboard
playing along with the warm resonance of acoustic bass and drums.
All daytime concerts take place in the Infinity Pacific Crystal Palace with catering and fine wines by popular Wanaka
restaurant, Missy’s Kitchen.
