Be In To Win Manukau Arts' Photographic Competition
Manukau City Council is hosting for the third year, a citywide photographic competition. The continuing theme is
'Tomorrow's Manukau through today's lens'. The aim is to encourage Manukau residents to capture on film, images of our
vibrant communities and natural surroundings - providing an insight into the distinctive personality of the city.
Manukau Arts' Manager Leisa Siteine says, "Manukau's amateur photographers left a big impression on judges in last
year's competition, which attracted 140 entries. We are keen to sustain the interest of this event, making it an annual
fixture. This is an ideal opportunity for our city's amateur photographers to portray the city through their unique
perspective, and showcase their artistic ability, as entries will be displayed in an exhibition at the Nathan
Homestead."
This year's categories are People, Places, Nature, Culture and Open Section and a Junior Open Section. Entry forms have
been available since February from Art Centres, Libraries and photo shops within the city. You'll have to be quick as
entries must be in to the Nathan Homestead by Friday 22nd April 2005.
A judging panel will select the top entries in each category and these will form an exhibition to go on display from 6th
May 2005 at Nathan Homestead and from 30th May 2005 at Mangere Community Arts Outreach Services.
So if you enjoy taking photographs, here is you chance - you don't need an expensive camera, just an eye for an
