Newstalkzb Steps Up Traffic Reports In Battle Against Gridlock
Auckland's most talked-about topic, traffic, will get the full attention it deserves on NewstalkZB following the introduction of a special traffic team, dedicated vehicles and an increased number of reports.
NewstalkZB will have several reports each hour in peak times during the business week and through the day will have a minimum of two reports an hour, both weekdays and weekends.
"Traffic is a key concern for our listeners, either before they set out on their road journeys or in the course of them, and we want to give it the priority it deserves," said Bill Francis, The Radio Network's head of talk programming.
"Hopefully timely alerts in themselves will help ease congestion and avoid gridlock.
"We have always ensured our listeners have been well informed about traffic issues, but now we are escalating our effort. As traffic has built up, so has the need for frequent reporting on the strangle-points.
"With summaries plus live crosses to our team of seven traffic reporters around the key routes, we believe we have a service that will be unmatched."
The NewstalkZB service will be extended to other TRN Auckland stations, Classic Hits, ZM, Radio Sport, Coast, Viva, Flava and Radio Hauraki.
