Phil Gifford Wins Special Rugby Slot On Radio Sport
Radio Sport personality Phil Gifford is getting a special slot to talk about his special interest ? rugby.
>From next month he will present a dedicated Saturday morning rugby programme on Radio Sport.
"Phil's full focus will be on the sport he loves and talks about most passionately," said Bill Francis, The Radio Network's head of talk programming.
"With his extensive journalistic background and rugby knowledge, he is ideally suited to host this new attraction. Phil's style ensures the show will be lively and it will also be very well resourced, with top correspondents participating from overseas.
"We think it will be a winner."
Bill Francis said that in order to give the noted presenter the best opportunity to achieve top results with the new show, Phil Gifford will relinquish his current weekday drive-time slot on Radio Sport. His replacement for the 4-6pm show will be named shortly.
Apart from being a radio host, Phil Gifford wrote a column under the nom-de-plume of Loosehead Len for a number of years and is currently a columnist for the Sunday Star-Times.
