Taupo Take Out Team Challenges At Bay Of Plenty Intermediate Quadathlon
For the second year running Taupo Intermediate won the Team Challenge at the ASB Bank Bay of Plenty Year 7 & 8 Quadathlon.
Staged in perfect conditions at Mount Maunganui last week the event attracted 23 schools from around the wider Bay of Plenty. Tauranga's Otumoetai Intermediate sent a massive 400 students.
The 16th Annual quadathlon included a 100m swim, 600m kayak, 6km cycle and 2km run.
Taupo Intermediate won both the coveted Year 7 and Year 8 team challenges.
However, it was Mt Maunganui Intermediate, in second place overall, who will go to Taupo on April 3 to represent Tauranga in the Regional Blue Light PCT Competition.
Omokoroa No 1 School with only 34 intermediate-aged children in the school, put in an incredible effort to be third place overall and first Full Primary School. Matakana Island also put in a great effort for such a small school, to finish in fifth place in the Full primary School section.
Numbers were so large this year, organisers Community Sport Trust will be looking at limiting numbers next year.
