Anzac Tribute “Blood Guts And Khaki”
Onstage Productions Wellington present “BLOOD GUTS AND KHAKI” - A Tribute to New Zealand’s Heroes of War. This two hour
performance featuring Dame Kate Harcourt and Sir Jon Trimmer is directed by Kevin Baddiley with a cast of seven
professional performers.
“I have designed BLOOD GUTS AND KHAKI as a tribute to every New Zealander whose life was sacrificed or changed forever
by war.” says Baddiley, “There is no convenient story line and no attempt has been made to tie it all “nicely” together.
It is simply fragmented moments served by song movement and monologue, take from it what you will. BLOOD GUTS AND KHAKI
is our humble effort to express gratitude to the thousands of New Zealanders who suffered, fought, and died, that we may
have a New Zealand to love and cherish as much as they did.”
Sir Jon says “Although I was young at the time, my remembrances of the War are very clear and the songs have always
stayed with me. I am thrilled to be performing in this Tribute programme.”
Dame Kate remembers the War years vividly, ”particularly the day war broke out, but being so far away the reality was
difficult to comprehend. As we sang so many of the songs contained in this tribute, it is wonderful to be able to sing
them once again, and remember.”
Baddiley also says the very talented cast, brought together from all over New Zealand, are extremely committed and find
the programme content both rewarding and emotionally challenging.
BLOOD GUTS AND KHAKI runs at Circa Studio, Wellington from April the 14th until the 30th, with a discounted preview
performance on April 13th and a special 4.30 pm performance on ANZAC DAY 25th April.
