Glitter And Gold At New Zealand’s Biggest Annual Academy Awards Party
New Zealand is again set to join the movie world’s elite, celebrating the oldest, most influential, most prestigious, and famous of film awards. A host of New Zealand media, celebrities and guests will attend New Zealand’s largest Academy Awards party, the 2005 SKYCITY Variety Academy Awards Long Lunch on Monday 28 February.
The 77th annual Academy Awards will be celebrated in style at the SKYCITY Auckland Convention Centre. Celebrity guests include Simon Dallow, Alison Mau, Hillary Timmins, Paul Henry, Kay Gregory, Renee Wright, Jason Reeves, Neil Waka, Steven Mc Ivor, and a host of Shortland Street personalities are also expected to attend. One lucky guest will receive a full Liz Mitchell make-over for the event, plus accommodation at SKYCITY for the evening (winner to be selected this week through a newspaper competition).
Variety Chief Executive, Elisa Willman, says the SKYCITY Variety Academy Awards Long Lunch is an extremely popular fundraising event that raises money for Variety’s many programmes for children in need.
“The 2005 SKYCITY Variety Academy Awards Long Lunch fits well with Variety – The Children’s Charity, because our roots are very much in the entertainment industry. Variety was launched more than 75 years ago by entertainers who wanted to do something for children in need, and the charity has grown from there.
“The SKYCITY Variety Academy Awards Long Lunch is not just a celebration of film, it is also about doing something to help New Zealand children.”
The event kicks off at midday on Monday and an exclusive live feed, provided by Sky Television and projected onto large screens, will give guests a unique real-time view of the awards – almost like being there.
