Outstanding Victory For Young Disabled Skier
Seventeen-year-old disabled skier Adam Hall from Dunedin scored an outstanding victory in the Wells Fargo Bank Dual
Giant Slalom Disabled race earlier this week at Winter Park, Colorado beating Paralympic gold medalist Michael Milton
from Australia by 4 thousands of a second in what was an amazing race. Third place was taken out by Martin Cupka from
Slovakia, knocking all US racers from the podium.
Adam, who trains at Cardrona Alpine Resort and is sponsored by the ski area, commented, “In the first qualifying race
Milton’s time was 23.18 and I was in second with 23.88, I knew I could come close, but I am blown away to have beaten
him”.
Adam has been training in Colorado with fellow New Zealand Disabled Development Ski Team member Anthony Field from
Auckland. Both head off on today (Friday) for the Disabled World Cup Races in Reid, Austria and the Disabled World Cup
Final at Klosters in Switzerland.
Adam and Anthony are working towards making the New Zealand Disabled Ski Team and representing New Zealand at the Winter
Paralympics in Torino 2006.
