New Independent Kiwi Digital Feature
‘MEMORIES OF TOMORROW’ is the latest independent digital feature from Auckland based film maker Amit Tripuraneni. Taking
5 months of weekends to shoot (a total of 20 days), the thriller captures the scenic variations of 14 North Island
locations.
The principal cast of 6 and rotating crew of 31 donated their time and talent for free to produce a visually stunning
film which tells the story of a man (Richard Thompson) looking for his past and a woman (Rachel Gilchrist) who wants to
look away from it. Ray Trickitt plays the mysterious stranger who triggers a series of events which brings the past and
future together.
Director, Amit came to New Zealand to attend Auckland’s South Seas Film and Television School in 2003 and later joined
the school in 2004 as staff, helping out with the post production department. The school’s Director, Gerben Cath saw
potential in Amit’s script and agreed to act as the Executive Producer. A number of other individuals and organisations
supported the production, seeing the passion of the young storytellers.
The money to keep the actual production up and running came from private sources and out of the pockets of the producers
-Amit Tripuraneni, who also directed the movie and Lance Wordsworth, who did the cinematography for the movie. Most of
the movie was shot on a glidecam or plain handheld, to produce a fluid visual flow and an organic feel to it. It also
reduced set up time, an important detail for a 'no-budget' film.
