Exhibition Opening 14th February 2005 [Valentine's Day]
7-9pm - Mondo Pop Gallery
Presenting an eye-popping collection of international cheesecake, erotic, fetish, gay, and pin-up original art, photography and works on paper (hopefully, something to offend nearly everyone) including a tribute to 50s icon Bettie Page featuring never-before-seen photographs from the New York Camera Club circa 1955.
ARTISTS
ELMER BATTERS [U.S.]
The publisher of numerous erotic/fetishish magazines over nearly three decades, his photographs of female nyloned feet and legs raised a personal obsession to the level of pop art.
JOHN JOHN JESSE [U.S]
The reigning "bad boy" and rising star of the American art world, former member of the punk rock group Nausea.
MEL RAMOS [U.S] The father of "California Pop" and one of the original 60s pop artists (along with Warhol,
Lichtenstein and Rauschenberg).
SORAYAMA [Japan] Japan's leading pin-up artist.
ANNIE SPRINKLE [U.S]
Former 70s porn star turned sex guru and international performance artist.
TOM OF FINLAND [Finland]
Iconic gay artist.
SPENCER TUNICK [U.S]
World-renown for his photographic installations involving masses of nude people in public places.
BUNNY YEAGER [U.S]
Former blonde bombshell pin-up girl who stepped behind the camera to become one of the leading glamour photographers of the 1950s and 60s, and whose chance meeting with a vacationing Bettie Page on a Miami beach resulted in pop culture history.
