FOR IMMEDIATE USE
New Zealand Red Cross and Surf Aid International Combined relief concerts
The Wellington City Council along with several Wellington musicians and bands will come together on February 13 to offer both their facilities and time to raise further support of the ‘South Asia Tsunami Appeal’.
This specifically is a Wellington effort and is significant from several points of view.
There are nine bands involved, all giving their time ‘Free’ to help raise funds for both Surf Aid and Red Cross. Both Aid organisations will benefit equally from the proceeds. This co-operation between the two aid agencies signifies the co-operation that does and can occur between organisations when faced with a disaster of this magnitude.
The groups who have kindly volunteered their time are: -
- Trinityroots
- Rhian Sheehan & guests
- Flash Harry & The Future of Love
- Tommy
- Malia Patea-Taylor
- The Beat Girls
- Odessa
- Twin Set
- Uncle Monkey
There will be two separate sessions on Sunday 13 February.
The first session aimed at family groups from 1pm to 4pm . Tickets sold through Ticketek at $10 per adult and $2 per child.
The second session aimed at younger adults from 6pm onwards. Tickets sold through Ticketek at $35 per head. No tickets will be available at the door.
All sessions held at Wellington Town Hall
Several other countries have run similar events, including Australia and England, and this is New Zealand and Wellingtons answer in support of the cause.
