Super Seven Fundraiser for Tsunami Victims
The Manawatu Striders have invited the Sri Lankan Association of Palmerston North to hold a fundraiser to benefit
tsunami victims during the third Super Seven Series event on February 1st.
The Super Sevens is a seven kilometre fun run/walk series held every Tuesday evening for seven weeks. Start time is 6:15
pm, with registration open from 5:30 pm at the hockey clubrooms on Manawaroa Street, Palmerston North.
During the third event on 1st February, members of the Sri Lankan community will be providing participants with
traditional finger foods as well as a cup of Dilmah tea. All donations will directly benefit victims of the Boxing Day
tsunami in Asia.
More than 400 runners and walkers have participated in each of the first two Super Seven Series events, and organisers
are hopeful that the fundraising evening will prove even more popular.
“We are pleased to be able to offer a first-rate running and walking event that everyone, young and old, can participate
in, and to be able to support a pertinent cause,” stated John Kearns, Manawatu Striders Club President.
