Big sounds set for Waiheke’s Little Day In
This Anniversary Weekend Waihetians will have the chance to kick back and celebrate Auckland’s birthday with New
Zealand’s freshest musical talent at ‘Waiheke’s Little Day In’.
The free annual Auckland City Music in Parks concert, held in Onetangi Sports Park from 2pm on Saturday 29 January, is
set to feature entertainment from Auckland's hottest bands. The headliners are premier pop-punk band Goodnight Nurse,
previous winners of the York St Acid Test Goon, winners of this year’s Pasifika auditions and emerging Pacific talents
Spacifix, and 4Eulogi, whose single ‘Over you’ has enjoyed recent radio success.
The local Waiheke lineup includes Bass Foundation, Benevolent Evelyns, Mother Tounge, MDT and solo musician Micheal
Scorey (who will be the support act for the Rod Stewart concert), and finishes up with resident DJ Sam Owen.
There will also be activities and events for the whole family to enjoy like facepainting, a bouncy castle, a graffiti
workshop held by graff-artists Disruptiv Ltd, and the Nix Crew will have some performance cars on display. There will
also be a range of food stalls.
Auckland City Music in Parks has plenty of music and plenty of space to enjoy it in this summer, so Waihetians and
visitors from Auckland can grab some food and some friends and head down to the park to enjoy the live music and family

This concert is just one of more than 60 free events provided by Auckland City, in association with Radioworks and
Waiheke Youth Centre’s "Friends of the Street". They are all part of the Ak@Play summer events programme.
