Prime Reaches Out to Asia
Prime Television announced today it will be the exclusive New Zealand broadcaster of a special Tsunami Appeal Concert, live from the Sydney Opera House, Saturday 8th January at 8.30pm.
Some of New Zealand and Australia’s best-loved stars will appear in the live Australasia Unites: Reach Out To Asia concert.
Performers include 2004 New Zealand Music Award multi-winner Scribe as well as Guy Sebastian, Jon Stevens, Missy Higgins, Jet, Killing Heidi, Kasey Chambers, Noiseworks and more.
The Tsunami benefit concert will be an unforgettable television event. The joint appeal between Prime New Zealand and Australia’s top three television networks will assist the aid agencies working with the victims of this vast human tragedy which has left over 150,000 dead and millions homeless.
Live from Sydney's Opera House forecourt there will be performances from top musicians, bands, celebrities and personalities that will entertain and, more importantly, reflect our compassion for the Boxing Day Tsunami victims.
Underscoring the true meaning behind the event, Big Brother’s Gretel Killeen will speak with people who have returned from the disaster areas. In tandem with the event, a live telethon will be held hosted by Eddie McGuire, Catriona Rowntree and Rove McManus. New Zealanders will be able to make donations throughout the evening on special Tsunami 0800 and 0900 numbers.
