Kiwi Kids Day Saturday 15 January 2005 At Karori Wildlife Sanctuary

The Karori Wildlife Sanctuary is one of Wellington's best kept secrets. The 252 hectare protected area is home to some of New Zealand's rare native birds and wildlife - like the little spotted kiwi. Go along to the Sanctuary on Saturday 15 January to learn all about our national icon. There will be fun and activities between 11am and 3pm, a best dressed kiwi competition and prizes to be won. It’ll be a great day out so pack a picnic, round up the whole family and go along to the Sanctuary.
When you are there check out some of the Sanctuary’s new attractions like the Discovery Area which includes artefacts and information about the history of the construction of the upper dam and the fantastic new Nest Camera where you can view up close the comings and goings of various species on a television monitor.
Entry Fees: $8 Adult, $4 Child, $20 Family (2 adults, 3 children), no charge for Sanctuary members or pre-schoolers. Open daily from 10am to 8pm.
Last entry 7pm. The entrance to the Sanctuary is located at the end of Waiapu Road, Karori (first left after the Karori tunnel). Also check out their website for further information http://www.sanctuary.org.nz
