Hi All,
Another year under our belts, looking forward with glassy eyes to the new opportunities that '05 will bring...
so, all the best for the festivities, stay on the left side of the road, and watch out for those rogue tornadoes...
Stay tuned for AK05 where MIC will be bringing a collection of shorts to the Gleem Fest, March 4-5 (check www.gleem.org)
and UK/Australian artist Gina Czarnecki will be brought over to exhibit a new-technology media work.
We'll be closed until the 17th of January, so look forward to seeing you then.

HEADSTRONG is offering a once-in-a-lifetime chance to those burning with talent and vision. A 100% New Zealand Feature
Film Development Company financed by the New Zealand Film Commission. Run by a single-minded, resolute and stubborn
team. Has been given a greenlight by the NZFC to produce up to four provocative, innovative, dangerous and indigenous
feature films. Headstrong are giving New Zealand writers, directors and producers an incredible opportunity to step up
and take the challenge. Headstrong is now officially in the feature film business.
All potential headstrong writers, directors, producers (and you) are advised to visit the new HEADSTRONG website on Dec

c) GLEEM
MIC @ Gleem Festival - AK05 March 4-5 MIC is curating a programme of short experimental film for a new festival in
Waitakere City next year. Gleem and MIC would like to hear from artists with moving image projects that fit the
following criteria. Animation (all forms) Experimental narrative and abstract. Projects of 5 mins or less favored.
The Gleem Festival is a multimedia celebration of light that brings together some of this country’s leading sound,
light and performance artists. Set in the grounds of one of the nations oldest –former- vineyards, against a backdrop of
mature trees, bordered by the Opanuku Stream and historic buildings. Gleem will transform the Corban Estate Art Centre
grounds into an open-air interactive gallery.
As dusk falls over the estate electronic soundscapes from some of Aotearoa’s pre-eminent DJs and producers the likes of
Pitch Black, John Kennedy & Rotor plus, will transport audiences through a twilight zone of sculpture, performance pieces and interactive works.
Over twenty three invited artists including: Peter Stoneham, Virginia King, Raewyn Turner, Dave Stewart, Mark Harvey and
Andrew Deboer will present a wide range of light emitting installations exploring the nature and behavior of
electromagnetic waves in various forms: fire, reflected, projected, fluorescence, neon, sound triggered and conceptual
performance pieces.
To enjoy the show to it’s fullest, audiences are encouraged to turn up in the late afternoon and picnic in the parkland
setting. There you can relax into the moment as ambient music and performance artists bring on the night. A
scintillating menu of short film is also being programed with MIC.
Project Designer/Curator Ashley Turner plans Gleem to become a regular fixture on the summer arts calendar.
There will be organic food, alcohol and beverage stalls onsite at the event both nights. Saturday will also have 30 plus
market stalls and free music from 10am with the Way Out West Fest sharing the same venue.
