Trash to Fashion wows audiences
The 2004 Trusts’ Trash to Fashion Awards was an explosive mix of creativity and flair that wowed the audiences on Friday and Saturday night at the Trusts’ Stadium, Waitakere.
Over 3500 people were entertained by a fully choreographed show where 219 garments were brought to life by professional dancers and world class entertainers. Giant multimedia screens magnified the details of garments as they were paraded around a six sided star shaped stage that took advantage of the expansive stadium floor to give audiences a close up look at the recycled materials on display.
Helen Fitzpatrick’s Supreme Award-winning dress entitled The Dreaming Bride was created out of newspapers, advertising magazines and gift wrap. Taking out the Global Roaming category also, the vibrant reds, greens and golds used are associated with good luck and long life in the Chinese culture.
The garment also won its Global Roaming category. Other categories were Softwear, No-Tech, E-Male, Hardwear, Flashwear and Txt-U-All.
