NZGamer.com Launches NZ’s Biggest Xbox Online Prize Pack
Auckland, 1 December 2004 – This Christmas young gamers across New Zealand will be printing t-shirts, dyeing their hair
and hanging banners from rooftops in an effort to win a huge Xbox prize pack from NZGamer.com. Promoted in conjunction
with Microsoft, Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, Atari, Take 2 Interactive and Orcon Ltd , NZGamer.com Second Christmas is the
largest console competition ever seen from a NZ Website.
The challenge for gamers is simple: come up with a promotional/publicity idea for NZGamer.com and a competition sponsor,
and then put it into practice. The promotions must be legal, and safe for participants, but beyond that the sky's the
limit. “We’re extremely happy knowing that Kiwis will be thinking of brilliant ways to promote the NZGamer.com brand.”
states Aaron Scott, Advertising Manager NZGamer.com.
Since NZGamer.com launched in April 2003, the site has grown to an average of 800 unique hits per day. NZGamer.com is
owned and operated by University students and gaming enthusiasts to report the latest NZ Gaming related news, previews
and reviews.
The Xbox prize pack is worth over $2000 and contains the latest Xbox titles including:
Halo 2™, Need For Speed Underground 2™, Ghost Recon 2™, V8 Supercars™, GoldenEye: Rogue Agent™, Splinter Cell 3 - Chaos
Theory™, Ghost Recon 2™The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age™, Star Wars: Republic Commando™, Brothers In Arms™, Star
Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords™, Prince of Persia: Warrior Within™, Playboy: The Mansion™, Atari
Anthology™, Conflict: Vietnam™, Second Sight™ and 2 x JoyTech™ Wireless Controllers
The surging New Zealand gaming industry is set to gross over $100 million this year, more than the entire Kiwi music
sector. “The industry is set to be huge in 2004, we’re looking to a $100 million year, and Electronic Arts looks to have
25% market share of that,” states Mike Wynands, General Manager of Electronic Arts New Zealand.
2004 was a big year for gaming, one of the key players in the console market has been Microsoft’s Xbox. Following a
number of successful releases including the likes of AAA titles Halo 2 and Fable, Microsoft's Xbox looks set to continue
rapidly gaining market share in the industry through 2005 and beyond. “Even after the Christmas period people have
Forza, Dead or Alive Online and Mech Assault 2: Lone Wolf to look forward to in early 2005,” stated Tom Hunt,
Entertainment Product Manager, Xbox NZ.
The competition finishes on 25th January 2005 and the winner(s) will be announced January 30th.
